AC MEDIA
Technology is always changing, it never stays still it keeps evolving each year, each month, each day, each hour! From social media sites to HD TVs, we all know that technology can be beneficial in many ways from living to learning all the way to social gatherings.
In this discussion, I will talk about technology that will help people with mobility issues. For example I came across a video of a person without any limbs being fitted with robotic hands, the person had to wear plastic armour around his body, this helped make the incision into his arm sockets. This was achieved by drawing lines onto the plastic thus helping to pinpoint where to make the incision. I also remember watching a video of a person in a similar situation receiving robotic arms from Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr., the arms designed to look identical to the Iron Man armour. I think this technology may be incorporated into a wearable suit with full functionality with the arms and legs, this will allow the wearer to have access to full movement and mobility. In many films such as RoboCop where the character had to wear a robot suit due to an accident, I reckon RoboCop predicted the future regarding the robotic hand as the character is seen with one real hand and one robotic. The well-known web browser Google has started to make their own self controlled vehicles, with no steering wheel or brakes as part of their self-driving projects. They used Kickstarter to achieve high amounts funding and started the project back in 2008. Hopefully in the future well-known companies may considering self driving vehicles such as Microsoft and Sony. Ever since the release of Back to the Future Part 2 a lot of people have tried to recreate the hoverboard, one such developed called Greg Henderson has started development fully functional hoverboard named the ‘Hendo Hoverboard’. Greg used Kickstarter to fund his efforts and received double his target goal of $250,000. Like maglev trains, the Hendo Hoverboard uses opposing magnetic fields to enable its ability to levitate, so the device only works on certain metal-covered surfaces. The Hendo Hoverboard also appears to be difficult to control. However, as noted on the company’s website, Hendo Hover is continuing to refine the capabilities of its device. According to Hendo’s Kickstarter page, the Hendo Hoverboard can be yours for $10,000 when the first production models are delivered on October 21, 2015. While the Hendo Hoverboard has garnered Arx Pax the most attention, inventor Greg Henderson has even bigger dreams for his hovering technology. As noted on Hendo Hover’s website, Henderson envisions using a similar technology to enable buildings to hover to protect them from damage during earthquakes or floods. In conclusion, no matter what happens with Technology it’s always evolving and changing which can be a good or bad thing, it really depends on what you think. But one thing is certain nobody can stop the power of Technology.

Acorn Classification
Acorn is a collective database of where people live, they try and provide useful information depending on a person/families lifestyle. Acorn is a good way for marketing and promoting things by focussing on one group of people. For example for my college people I may want to focus on young people and students progressing onto college education. I would achieve this by going onto acorn and asking them for the postcodes in Bristol for K34 K35 and K36. Primarily this is a great system, even though some facts and figures may be slightly inaccurate, it still gives a general idea of who lives in a specific area. This is useful for people who would like to promote a specific idea or product to a specific market. For my piece to camera I combined past and present content eg the Dogman Poster from 3 years ago in 2013 and the current post ‘The Wonders of Mischief and Chaos’ that was made last year in 2015. I also used videos that were previously made by myself to illustrate certain tasks that I worked on. I wrote out a script on Microsoft Word, I was asked to go over to the filming studio to start filming. The script was then used on the auto cue, I thought that it was a somewhat easy process however I did find the speed of the auto cue difficult. I enjoyed being part of the narration with me being in front of the camera. I used Final Cut Pro for the editing process, I used google images for several photo’s to illustrate the key websites that I used throughout the project and also for a little bit of humour. I used final cut pro to key images in the background I also used my T shirt to display some images.
We used Keying to remove any colour obstructing in the background eg the green screen and my T-Shirt. This means that we can then see through it and put another image behind it. This can also bring a certain atmosphere so for example when I stated ‘I’m speaking to you from the Digital Realm’ I used an image from Tron to give a digital backdrop to the screen to accompany my words. I need to learn to keyframing, which is where a point would be drawn on screen to mark where the objects would start and finish and the object will move between the two points, also resizing images to fit in the background as in past edits of this video all of the images were different sizes. I resized the images to keep it more consistent throughout the video. I enjoyed using/finding images from google as it allowed me to incorporate things I like such as The Simpsons and Sonic the Hedgehog. The piece is very informal and formal at the same time without being too over the top with the line delivery and the images presented. I think the timing of the cuts really worked for the humour for example when I stated that something was legal and then the prison bars come on screen. I think the music really helped to evoke an atmosphere when there were no images on screen. This was due to the fast paced tempo of the song I used from Final Cut Pro’s music menu/library. I used some animation for one of the scene’s e.g When I talked about one of my short films there was a zombie moving horizontally across the screen. Also some animation was used for my transition’s. e.g. When I was talking about where people can locate my work i used transition’s to show the Level 2 Media Facebook group page , My YouTube channel and my Weebly Website (AC Media). In my piece to camera i took photo’s of SGS student's and staff this was used to thank everybody who helped me in/on Media Level 1 and 2 project’s e.g. Steve Maz , Tom Green , Aaron Green , Matt Grinter , Mark Sinnett and Aaron Henderson. With regards to the final video I enjoyed seeing multiple images on screen as I was talking. I thought the jokes were good, this was in part with the images and clips used eg when I said no-one was hurt and then we cut to Aaron Green getting stabbed in the eye. If i could change anything, I would have tried to rehearse my line delivery more, so it felt more natural. I would have achieved this by asking someone to read along with me and asked for feedback. Overall I am happy with the final outcome of my video. Since 2007 the Assassin’s Creed developer/publisher Ubisoft has undergone several marketing strategies to help promote and introduce this video game franchise to new audiences by making short films, a comic book series, allowing other developers eg namco to put Assassins creed characters into different games, novels, statues, boardgames, clothing, toys, merchandise and online companion apps which can communicate with the Assassin’s Creed games and also a Youtube Channel to name but a few.
Assassin’s Creed started out as a Prince of Persia game, whilst researching for the, then latest, Prince of Persia game one of the developers stumbled on the Third Crusade and decided to scrap the Prince of Persia game and work on a new IP however the working title for the unreleased Prince of Persia game was ‘Prince of Persia: assassin” where you played as one of the princes assassins trying to protect him. One of the developers loved researching the Third Crusade and began development on the first Assassin’s Creed game. The Assassin’s Creed franchise is a stealth action series that follows several assassins as they travel through time to uncover and take down a secret organisation called the Templars. For example they travelled to England, France and Italy. This has lead to AC 1, AC2, AC Brotherhood, Revelations, AC 3, AC 3 Liberation HD, AC 4 Black Flag, Rogue, Unity and finally AC Syndicate released as console games and there’s a small group of handheld games, Assassin’s Creed Altair’s Chronicles and Assassin’s Creed 2 Discovery DS, Assassin’s Creed 3 Liberation for Playstation Vita and finally a game for the PSP called Assassin’s Creed Bloodline. There is a live action Film in production starring Michael Fassbender in the lead role, this is to be released in the USA on december 21st 2016. There’s a short CGI animated movie called Assassin’s Creed Embers made by Ubisoft’s motion picture team and there is clothing inspired by the assassin’s creed series such as hoodies. There is also a monopoly board game based on the assassin’s creed brand. Titan comics released a series of comics based on various assassins from the games eg Connor, Ezio and Altair. My idea for the project is to do a documentary based on somebody who goes to SGS College WISE Campus. In order for my idea to work, I would use a GoPro and strap it someone's forehead, this will give a first person perspective. The documentary will be set over 4 days and it will capture the day to day life of an SGS student. A group member asked about distribution which i hadn't thought about. It made me think that maybe I could make my idea multi platform, for example Youtube, my AC media website, facebook level 2 media page. I pitched my idea to the focus group and I received mostly positive feedback for example somebody compared my idea to a skateboarder, I think this might be a good idea because with a skateboarder when they do tricks they incorporate different angles to give a different viewpoint on the situation. I may incorporate this idea into my documentary by asking several students to take part in the documentary and use several go pro’s so several different perspectives can be used throughout the documentary. I enjoyed discussing my idea with my fellow colleagues as they seemed very supportive, I had very positive feedback. It helps me to build on my idea and develop my idea. Sometimes other members of the group will have ideas that I hadn't thought of and this will help as this will allow me to incorporate several of the focus groups ideas for example using websites for distribution such as my own website, AC Media.

A new watch has been confirmed at CES 2016, looking at this image it should have touch screen capability’s in-cooperated into the watch also a wristband is present with a LED light inside. It has also been confirmed that this watch can be compatible with the Apple watch.
Step 1: I took pictures of my colleagues/friends outside of SGS College WISE Campus, I used a DSLR camera to capture my images. I imported the photos onto Photoshop and then I gathered some images from Google for the effects. I then proceeded to Photoshop all the images into separate layers and then started to combine all of the photos into one A3 image which was my final poster.
Step 2: I then used scriptbuddy to write out my first scene for my fan-made film. The genre of this film will be a comedy, this was reflected in my script as it contained several jokes/puns and one serious plot. My film will be aimed at males aged 15-21, if you like Hot Fuzz and Ted; you may enjoy this movie. |
